[7 - 11 Agustus 2023] Call For Expression of Interest The 9th Indonesian - American Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium
Call For Expression of Interest The 9th Indonesian - American Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium
The Kavli-Frontiers of Science Series was inaugurated in 1989 and organized by young scholars with support from the US National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the National Academy of Sciences. The annual symposium brings together selected young scientists (Ph.D. under 45 years of age) who have significantly contributed to science to discuss cutting-edge science and opportunities within and across their fields.
The symposium has inspired bilateral symposia in the United Kingdom, Japan, Israel, China, India, and Indonesia. The first Indonesian-American Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium was held in Bogor in 2011 as a joint program between the Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) and the US National Academy of Sciences (NAS). Followed by the subsequent symposium in Solo (2012), Bali (2013), Medan (2014), Makassar (2015), Malang (2016), Ambon (2017), and Yogyakarta (2022). The symposium is attended by 70 participants (40 scientists from Indonesia and 30 from the United States) selected by the Organizing Committee. In 2015-2017, Australia also participated in the symposium by sending 10 of their best young scientists. The Indonesian-American Kavli Frontiers Symposium gathers the best young scientists as “the next generation of leaders” in the natural sciences, engineering, and social sciences. Participants give oral or poster presentations, engage in discussions, and explore potential collaborations.
The Indonesian Academy of Sciences (AIPI) has formed an Indonesian Organizing Committee of young scientists, chaired by Dr. Berry Juliandi with Dr. Vanny Narita, Dr. Inaya Rakhmani, Dr. Tatas Brotosudarmo, Dr. Intan Suci Nurhati, and Dr. Antonia Morita as members to prepare the 9th Indonesian-American Kavli Frontiers of Science Symposium, in cooperation with the US Organizing Committee.
